Long has been the murmur and promotions about the 4G bandwidth internet network in India. But first let’s understand what actually is 4G internet and how is it different from its predecessors 3G & 2G. 4G stands for “4th generation” of mobile telecommunications technology.
According to wikipedia: A 4G system, in addition to the usual voice and other services of 3G, provides mobile broadband Internet access, for example to laptops with wireless modems, to smartphones, and to other mobile devices. Potential and current applications include amended mobile web access, IP telephony, gaming services, high-definition mobile TV, video conferencing, 3D television, and cloud computing.
Finally, Airtel breaks the ice on the service by rolling out this breakneck speed of internet connectivity to masses of Indians in 296 cities nationwide. The immediate thought which comes to our minds is, how much does it costs? Well, I wouldn’t say it’s as cheap as 2G data pack recharges, but yes, it is being offered now in the same price range as the 3G services. You can check out the price plans here: Airtel plans. Do you remember the time when 3G was just a myth and suddenly it was launched in India, the prices were high at that time, those same price is now being applied to 4G but the difference is, it does fulfills the fast internet speed you ever craved for, and to prove this Airtel has even thrown a challenge to the public whose campaign video is given below:
They challenge you that if you find an inernet service faster than Airtel 4G then Airtel will pay your mobile bills for your entire life. Interesting, isn’t it? 😛 Another interesting thing is that if you have a 4G enabled mobile phone with you, upgrading and getting a Airtel 4G sim is free of cost. It will even be delivered to you at your doorstep. Totally free! 🙂 Now getting a 4G SIM is just a tweet away – #GetAirtel4G.
It’s high time we got a better internet speed though we’re still way behind in getting the best internet connectivity compared to the other countries but still India is gradually getting there. For your information, 4G Mobile WiMax standard was first introduced in South Korea in 2007, and the first LTE standard in Oslo, Norway and Stockholm, Sweden since 2009 and US has deployed Mobile WiMax standard networks since 2008. Horrifying to know that we’re getting it now. 😮 Well for now though, I’m looking forward to play World of Warcraft – the best MMORPG in the world, completely lag free. It’s been a long dream of mine to play my online games in the best possible latency with zero lag in which most of the US, Oceania, and European server players play and hence it plays a major role in the winnnings in most international gaming championships. For now, I rub my hands to gore down into the arenas of Dota 2, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Diablo III. Are you game? What would you do with the new 4G internet, how’d you like to use it?
